Dick Morgan Memorial ride on the Natchez Trace

Dick Morgan Trace Memorial Ride

          Jan, Bruce and several others have developed the plans for the first annual Dick Morgan Trace Memorial Ride.  The date is October 18, 8:00am, starting from the Health plex in Clinton.  Please save the date on your calendars and tell your friends.  I had envisioned a group of bikers to start from Ridgeland and ride to Clinton, however, health issues have curtailed some of my efforts.  Thanks to Jan and Bruce for making this ride a reality.    

 

     

 

Mississippi River Trail

          The MRT is making great progress with grants, trail development, board development, state by state routing efforts, and affiliation with other national organizations.  This is in part because of good board members and a great Executive Director, Terry Eastin.    Mississippi was one of the first states to help launch the MRT.

 

Mayor Gene McGee

A resolution of recognition should be presented to Mayor Gene McGee for the development of bike trails in and around Ridgeland.  This includes a large Natchez Trace Trail segment.  He obviously deserves this for his strong leadership for our cause.  Drop him a note to say “thank you, Mayor McGee” and I will request a resolution from Bike/Walk Mississippi.
