In conjunction with National Bike Month, Governor Haley Barbour has issued a proclamation to make May Bicycle Month in the State of Mississippi!
Monday, May 16th-Friday, May 20th is Bike to Work Week! Here is a list of events around the state of Mississippi during the Month of May! - Bicycle Rodeo, Saturday May 7th, 9am-11am at Olde Towne Middle School
- Bike to Work Week and Bike to Work Day: Ridgeland maps are available at City Hall, & Ridgeland Chamber of Commerce. Business teams who participate will receive recognition in the next issue of Ridgeland Life.
- Basic Maintenance Clinic, Monday, May 23rd at 6:15pm at Indian Cycle
- Ride of Silence, May 18th at 6:15pm at Northpark Mall in Ridgeland
- The Ride of Silence™ is a silent bicycle ride established to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways.The Ride aims to raise awareness that cyclists and motorists share the same road and to encourage respect and consideration of each other on the road.
- Soulshine Blues and Groove Bike Ride, Saturday, May 28th at 8am at Soulshine Pizza off Highland Colony. A benefit for the American Cancer Society. Two ride options are available: 25 and 50-mile rides. Entry fee is $20
- Monday Group Bike Rides at 6pm, every Monday in May. Meet at Indian Cycle in Ridgeland. There will be two groups, a beginner and an advanced group.
- Wednesday Mountain Bike Rides at 5pm, every Wednesday in May at the Ridgeland Trails.

Biloxi/Gulf Coast:
The city and a group of organizations are planning a series of events to help observe National Bicycle Month, which takes place throughout May. There is no charge for each event. Participants should bring their own bike; helmets are recommended, and required for some events. Participants will learn more about the JP Frerer Bicycle Safety Act at each event. Among the free events being organized by Biloxi Main Street, Gulf Coast Bicycle Club, Gulf Coast Heritage Trails, and the city’s Parks and Recreation Department are:
- May 9-13, Bike to Work Week (if you can only ride one day, make it Friday, May 13. Also, extend your range with CTA’s Bike & Bus program).
- May 14, Bike Rodeo at Beck Park, 9 to 11 a.m. Open to K through 6th grade. (Free bike helmets, and bicycle safety and technique drills.)
- May 17, Bike Biloxi Dinner Ride in Downtown Biloxi. Begins at 5 p.m. at the Bond-Grant House, 932 Howard Ave. Route will cover 6.75 miles. To see the route, click here.
- May 26, Hiller Park Bike Race, 5 p.m. for children, and 6 p.m. for adults. Awards will be presented. Helmets will be required.
- May 30, Bike the Bridge to Gulf Islands National Seashore Park. The Memorial Day ride begins at 8 a.m. on the Biloxi side of the Biloxi Bay Bridge.
